About NDA - National Defence Academy Examination
National Defence Academy Examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission is on 17 April 2011 , The Examination is common for entry to three defence service namely Army , Air force and Navy. The examination is conducted twice in a year. The career prospects are high, On passing the exam with merit, the candidates are trained in National Defence Academy , Khadakwasala ,Pune. After the training the Candidates are awarded a Bachelor Degree and Inducted into defence service as Indian Commissioned Officers, this entry will lead to become the Chief of the defence services like General, Admiral and Air Chief Marshal, the highest post in India as a defence personal.
Eligibility Conditions:
Age Limit: Unmarried Male Candidates with age between 16 ½ and 19 year
Educational Qualification :
For Army : 10 + 2 Pass or Equivalent
For Air Force and Navy : 10 + 2 Pass or Equivalent with Physics and Mathematics
Note: Candidates appearing for 10+2 can also apply
Scheme of the Examination:
The Examination is of two stages , First stage involves a written exam for 900 marks .Second stage is the Service Selection Board (SSB) Interview, Only those candidates who clear the first stage would be called for the second stage
The Written Exam consists of two paper, Paper I – Mathematics (300 Mark) and Paper II- General Ability Test –( 200 Mark – English & 400 Mark – General Studies)
Recent Trend in the Examination Process:
NDA examination was once considered to be a cake walk and candidates with moderate preparation could easily clear this stage and they faced difficulty only in the second stage , but when we analyse the last five years question pattern we find that the written examination becoming equally tough and requires thorough preparation with smart work to crack this nut. Questions are being asked more on current affairs. Candidates should focus on the recent happening of national and International importance. These knowledge will also help in SSB interview where apart from your leadership quality they will analyse your awareness on current affairs.
